First Gen is an editorial website that captures New York City through a cultural lens. America is a nation of immigrants and New York City represents a microcosm of the world. First Gen is the only online destination that ties culture, fashion, and politics into one palatable package for both a female and male audience. We tell the stories of first generation Americans living in New York through honest and captivating interviews and street-style photography. By sharing the photos and interviews of diverse men and women thriving in New York City, we work to normalize — even glamorize — the idea of embracing your heritage and your ethnic roots.

I launched First Gen Fashion two years ago as a blog to give modern women, of all ethnic backgrounds, a voice and a platform to share their stories. In the highly saturated fashion blogosphere, we are the only fashion editorial site with a mission to promote cultural competency. A year later, I launced First Gen Men to include men in the dialogue. Storytelling is the most impactful method for getting an audience to care and empathize with important issues happening around the world.
